The Future Farmers of America is a national organization for students who are studying vocational agribusiness in our public secondary schools. It is an educational, nonprofit farm organization of voluntary membership, designed to develop agricultural leadership, character, thrift, scholarship, cooperation, citizenship, and patriotism.

FFA members, among other things, learn through active participation to solve their own problems, to finance themselves, to use improved farming methods, to market farm products, to conduct and take part in public meetings and to assume civic responsibilities.

The Successful Farmer of Tomorrow is the Future Farmer of Today!

- IMPORTANT -
Each exhibit MUST be in place, complete, clean and ready for judging no later than 4 p.m.,Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011, and shall remain in place until Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011.

JUDGING POINTS

Judging will be conducted on the scale of points in the PREMIUM CATALOG under AGRICULTURE. Judgemust furnish all entrants with a copy of the scorecard so that entrants can make necessary improvements for next year.

JUDGING GUIDELINES

A total or 100 points is the official amount of points that can be received by any exhibitor. There will be six areas in which these points may be received, as seen in the following:

Exhibits should show an activity in which the FFA chapter has taken part or show work accomplished.

1. Power to attract attention (20 Points)

A. Is there a good choice of color and decorations?
B. Is there a good choice in size and type of lettering used on posters?
C. Is an attention getter used effectively?

1. Motion, light design, color, or other special features.

2. Power to arouse and hold the interest of the viewer (20 Points)

A. Is there a new twist to an old idea?
B. Is there a clever or unique idea present?
C. Does the arrangement of materials allow logical sequence of thought?

3. The main idea of the exhibit is worthwhile, distinctive, and significant (20 points)

A. The theme should be based on some phase of the total FFA program.
B. Does the exhibit present on main idea?


4. Success in relating the exhibit to club-related activities in county. (30 points)

A. Does the exhibit give the viewer a better understanding and appreciation of the resources or services of an agricultural education program? This could include any or all three components of the agriculture education Program (SAE, Classroom/lab, and FFA)


5. General appearance, attractiveness, arrangement, neatness (10 points)

A. Is it free from errors in spelling?
B. Is there a center of interest?
C. Are labels/posters/display materials easy to read?
D. Consider quality of workmanship.

EXHIBIT AREA AND SIZE

FRONTAGE: 15 feet; DEPTH: 8 feet
BACK HEIGHT: 8 feet; SIDE HEIGHT: 4 feet
NOTE: No item on display shall extend over the 4’ Side and Height

EXHIBIT CONSTRUCTION

Exhibitor is required to erect the supports within the exhibit enclosure for the display of items or articles to be used in the exhibit. The erection should be made flexible to permit a rearrangement from year to year. The exhibitor is to prepare, arrange, and otherwise complete the exhibit in accordance with the rules and regulations governing the exhibit.

RULES

Each exhibit in this class will be COLLECTIVE and COMPLETE. It shall be as diversified as possible and contain products and articles sufficient to demonstrate the various products of the chapter (except Canning). All are subject to the General Rules & Regulations of the Fair.

  1. 1. Each exhibit must be credible, must utilize the space provided, and must be found worthy of the premium offered.
  2. 2. Exhibitors must provide their own front barrier to the exhibit. (SUGGESTION: Planter boxes with flowers make an attractive appearance.)
  3. 3. See Rules for Removal of Exhibit.
  4. 4. Do not put anything in your booth that is of substantial value to you or that you not replace. The Fair is not responsible.
  5. 5. If you are using live animals, fish, etc., be sure you use the things necessary to keep them alive.

Removal of Articles on Display: Booths must be cleaned out on Oct. 30, 2011 from 10 am - 5 pm. Exhibitors must remove all items, products or articles used in the exhibit at close of fair so as to leave the exhibit area occupied by them in a clean condition. THIS IS A MUST!
